Still waiting for rain in the capital

The movement of clouds brought relief from the heat on Thursday, but there was no rain. The maximum temperature also dropped amid the clouds. It was 35.5 degrees Celsius. Earlier, the night temperature was recorded at 27.7 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, monsoon is expected to reach Lucknow in the next 48 hours. In such a situation, there is a possibility of good rain in the city for the next four days. Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist of the Regional Meteorological Center located in Amausi, said that the Arabian Sea monsoon is more active. Due to this, the southwest monsoon reached most parts of Bundelkhand in western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

At the same time, the Bay of Bengal branch of the monsoon has advanced in some parts of the Terai areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh. At present, easterly winds are blowing from central Rajasthan to western Bihar due to the effect of the trough line. Western disturbance is also active here. Due to its effect, it has rained at many places in south-western Uttar Pradesh.

Why is the monsoon stuck?

Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that usually the seasonal trough line remains active till the Bay of Bengal. Due to its effect, moist winds come, which causes rain. At present, the trough line is active from Rajasthan to Bihar. In such a situation, due to lack of sufficient moisture from the Bay of Bengal, there is no rain in the central parts of the state including Lucknow. Due to the increasing activity in the Bay of Bengal, the eastern branch of the monsoon can become more active soon. Due to its effect, monsoon is expected to increase in most parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow in the next 48 hours.
